I was impressed with Dr. Gerson’s explanation that different people metabolize foods differently, each at a unique rate and in different ways. ,Anyone who has any knowledge of Ayurvedic Medicine knows this to be true. We all have friends and family where one person can eat like a horse, never dieted and stays thin. The other person who hardly eats anything, excercises,, counts calories and is still overweight. I read this book to clarify the “myths” but I found the last section where Dr. Gerson summarizes how to eat healthy to be the most practical and rewarding. This section is based on all the preceding science which appears throughout the book: eat fruits, vegetables, whole grain, high fiber foods, consume oily fish, limit red meat and saturated fat. Heard it all before but it was reassuring to see the research that supports it and have it concisely presented. I think a lot of what has been written comes from the author’s wide knowledge of Ayurveda but he also backs it up with many scientific references. In my opinion, Gerson has written an excellent book that will remain relevant for a long time because he has debunked many of the myths we have taken to be true, and because his advice at the end will make sense to nearly everyone.
