I’m going to talk about whether it is safe to lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks or not. As with any weight loss or exercise program, I suggest consulting with your doctor about this as well.
Let’s divide this question into two parts:
1. If you’ve just started to try and lose weight and you have more than 20 pounds to lose in total then you may see a big initial weight loss which, with certain methods, may be as big as 10 pounds. However, don’t think that this will be all fat. A large proportion of those pounds will be made up of water. This is what is known as water weight loss and it is quite common at the early stages of diet plans. This kind of one time big weight loss should be safe, but we’ll talk more about the issues that may arise due to it further down this article.
2. If you’re trying to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks over and over again, you may face certain difficulties. After the first burst of weight loss, you won’t have any more water weight to drop. Then, it wil require drastic measures to drop another 10 lbs in 2 weeks and then another. It can be done but it may be risky unless you’re willing to put in a lot of effort into doing intensive workouts that burn a lot of calories and combine that with a low calorie diet. Don’t try this without a system to show you how to do this.
I wouldn’t worry about trying to lose 10 lbs every 2 weeks. This is not a goal you need to be hung about. The important thing is to lose the weight in a healthy and sustainable way. After all, you want to keep the weigh off for many years to come and continue to look and feel great.
I don’t recommend going on a starvation or very low calorie diet, although I admit that these plans can provide a big weight loss. It may be a short lived one.
What I do recommend is to use a sensible eating plan and combine it with a fitness routine that you can stick to. Lose the weight in whatever pace you like. It’s the end goal that counts the most. This is the safe way to lose weight.
